Most design projects starts with an initial consultation. Our initial consultation is our time to learn about each other. I need a deep understanding of your vision of the project, and I need to gather as much information as possible about your needs and desires for your space(s). My job is to take time to understand how you live, your family’s needs, and your own personal style. From that, my goal is to design a space that seamlessly aligns with your preferences.
This initial consultation is also your time to learn about me and my approach to design. Design is very personal, and you need to be comfortable with the person designing your space. We’ll also discuss your budget and timeline, and the services I offer that align best with your project goals. By the end of this initial consultation, my goal is for you to leave with a solid understanding of all the efforts and intricacies involved in breathing life into your project, and for you to feel comfortable with my design methodology.
My services are customized for each unique project, and I will tailor my design fees and design contract terms to align with your specific Scope of Work (SOW). Depending on your project, my project management can vary greatly — from very little, to full blown project management. I can manage all the moving parts of your design project, so you don’t have to keep track of every order, call, or schedule. That can include working with contractors, making sure design details are followed, and keeping timelines on track so your project runs smoothly. And while I will do everything I can to ensure things run smoothly, I will also be there when things don’t. It’s about making sure your space turns out the way it was planned.
Upon your approval of the project proposal, I will move on to the conceptualization phase of your project.
After an initial consultation, projects move into design conceptualization and development. Conceptualization starts with a lot of brainstorming. This is where ideas and visions take shape toward your ultimate design. I take your ideas, needs, and constraints and shape them into a clear direction that reflects how you want to live and feel in your space. It's not just about mood or style—it's about making sure the space works for you, down to the layout, flow, and purpose of each room. This is also where a project can morph as the brainstorming ideas and visions begin to take shape, so it's a great time to revisit budget.
The output of the conceptualization phase, I will create presentations and visual representations that capture the essence of your vision. Once you agree to the conceptual designs, they serve as the blueprint for your project.
This phase typically includes such things as floor plans and elevations that outline the layout of furniture, fixtures, and architectural elements to ensure optimal space utilization and flow. This is where space planning and furniture layout plans get crafted. I create floor plans and interior layouts—by hand or digitally—that show how a design comes together in real terms. These drawings don’t just look good on paper; they solve problems, show clear dimensions, and help you or your contractor make informed choices. Visualization is especially useful when space needs to be used efficiently or when several design directions are being considered.
Additionally, I’ll make recommendations for materials, finishes, and textures I’ve carefully curated to align with the design concept, your style preferences, and functional considerations of the space.
Depending on your project, you may decide to take drawings and designs and work directly with your contractor, or we can work together throughout the implementation of your project. I am happy to suggest contractors and trades people, but the client—you—decides who to hire for the project. Depending on your project, this phase can take a few days, or a few months. During implementation, while work is happening in your home, work is happening behind the scenes to ensure furnishings are ordered and tracked, and details are taken care of.
The finishing process is the furnishings and installation part of the project. Prior to this, we’ll have worked together to choose (or custom design) furniture, lighting, furnishings, accessories, and artwork that express the design of your space. Now, I ensure placement during installation.
From start to finish, my goal is to design a space that seamlessly aligns with your preferences, a design that reflects you and the way you live.

Many aspects of interior design can be done remotely, and I am happy to offer virtual consultations as well. This allows me to connect with you directly, understand your vision, and guide you through the process without the need for in-person meetings. Sometimes it's as easy as providing suggestions and advice and sometimes it's managing a full project remotely.
Seeing a design on paper or digitally can make all the difference. For instance, a mood board pulls everything into one place – colors, materials, textures, references – and gives direction to the project. Whether we’re starting from scratch or refining an existing space, a mood board is where you start seeing how it could all come together. From concept statements to mood boards, floor plans and elevations, sketches and 2D and 3D digital renders, I offer and create a variety of visualization materials to capture the essence of the design and help clients visualize what their space(s) can look like.
Choosing colors might seem straightforward, but getting it right takes more than matching swatches. I can look at how your space is used, how natural and artificial light shifts throughout the day, and how you want each room to feel. Whether you're selecting paint, fabrics, or finishes, I’ll help narrow things down to a palette that feels connected and grounded. A color consultation can be a stand-alone service or integrated as part of a larger project. If you're stuck between five shades of the same color, I can help you make the right call.
